Descritivo da obra

The Stock Carbon Mazuay Project of Gleba Mazuay, located in Silves, Amazonas, is focused on the conservation and sustainable use of native vegetation in an ecologically rich region of the Amazon. The Gleba is situated within a context of Dense Ombrophilous Forest of the Lowlands, in addition to other ecosystems such as floodplain forests, savannas, and wetlands.

According to IBGE 2024 data, the State of Amazonas has a territorial area of approximately 1,559,256.365 km² and its capital is the city of Manaus. With a population density of 2.53 inhabitants/km², Amazonas is home to an estimated population of 4,281,209 inhabitants. The Human Development Index (HDI) is 0.7, considered high, but with significant inequalities among its 62 municipalities. The monthly per capita household income is R$1,172.00.

The region faces significant environmental challenges, such as the expansion of road infrastructure and mining activities, which threaten the integrity of ecosystems and the environmental services provided by native vegetation. To mitigate these risks, the Stock Carbon Mazuay Project aims to preserve native vegetation, manage forests sustainably, protect water resources, and quantify carbon flux.

The project's actions include environmental monitoring, control of deforestation and forest degradation, restoration of degraded areas, and engagement with local communities. The use of remote sensing techniques, such as the analysis of vegetation indices (NDVI, EVI, LAI, and FPAR), will enable the estimation of Gross Primary Productivity (GPP), Autotrophic Respiration (RA), and Net Primary Production (NPP) in the region, which are essential for the quantification of carbon credits under the VCS Program.

Stock Capital is responsible for the proposal, implementation, monitoring, and certification of the project. The environmental analysis conducted within a 50 km radius from Gleba Mazuay highlights the region's importance for biodiversity conservation, water resource maintenance, and climate change mitigation. The project aims to conserve 988.66 hectares of dense ombrophilous forest, generating 718,455.73 VCUs over 20 years, with an annual average of 35,922.79 VCUs throughout the project's lifespan.

This initiative seeks to maximize the climate impact of carbon projects, providing benefits for local communities and biodiversity. The preservation of native vegetation not only contributes to climate change mitigation but also promotes ecosystem sustainability and the well-being of the populations that depend on them.
